Let’s be honest – shöpping is a weird name. In the best possible way.
Obviously it’s about shopping – but also about bringing together some of Austria’s best retailers to create real synergy.
( Austria is called „Österreich“ in German – and the “Ö” naturally points to our regional pride :-)
And synergy was exactly what we aimed for in the rebranding.
shöpping is the regional marketplace of Österreichische Post, which gave us a beautiful starting point:
we not only got to use the iconic Post Sans typeface, but we could also channel the pared-down design language of the Post into the brand.
During the redesign, we discovered that this quirky name – shöpping – unlocks a whole world of playful communication.
Where else would you find Möde, Cömputer, Spörtartikel … all from regiönal sellers, and delivered CÖ₂-neutral, of course?
Now: the whole red-dot-Ö-thing is clearly Austrian, but you should not overdo that.
(As always – it depends on the “döse” ;-)
What’s brilliant is how naturally we could evolve the (well, let’s say our) Post design into a proper family of sub-brands.
Depending on strategy, the relationship between mother and doughter can feel tight or loose – but they’ll always be family.
